Below you can read my days thoughts on running. Some days I
will write about my day on the road. Some days I will write about
thoughts on training, racing, efficiency, marathons, or whatever
crosses my mind while I am on the road. Perhaps you will laugh.
Perhaps you will be inspired. On occasion you may even be saddened.
I post these thoughts just to keep the thought of today's run fresh...
If anything below inspires you, drop me a line and let me know.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Runners! Today was a great day for a race. Here in the Northeast, the snow ended, and the clouds started to part just in time for the gun to go off. I ended up in NJ this Thanksgiving morning. I searched around earlier in the week looking for a race, and found an 8k. With the fortune of the weather, and a good dinner, and some good rest, I was able to lower my PR for this distance from just over 30 minutes to under 29. I was unfamiliar with the course, so I could not prepare my race plan. Instead, I relied on my body to tell me that I was exerting a constant power. It must have worked. I hope all of your races went just as well!

Effort... Aerobic Power... Lactic Threshold... I went for a six
mile run today. It was a beautiful day, so I decided to put my daughter
in the running stroller, and take her along for the ride. The route
I chose today contained several pretty big hills. One of them was
actually more than a pretty big hill. The climb is about 200' in
altitude in 1/4 of a mile. Remember I was pushing a stroller up
this hill. These two minutes of running got me thinking... Is there
a hill out there that can force you to go lactic no matter how slow
you RUN up it? It seems that given your lactic threshold defines
the maximum amount of aerobic power you can produce, then there
could be a hill so large that at running speed, you will need to
exert more power than your lactic threshold.

All of the Halloween candy must have collected in my legs. I
ran my normal 6 mile loop today, but with a 36:30 time, I did not
feel like I overexerted myself at all. It must have been the combination
of some extra sugar, a good nights' sleep, and the nice weather.
Runs like that remind me that you have good days, and you have bad
days. Your training should be able to accommodate a bad day, and
you should take the good days when you have them. Run Strong!
