Below you can read my days thoughts on running. Some days I will write about my day on the road. Some days I will write about thoughts on training, racing, efficiency, marathons, or whatever crosses my mind while I am on the road. Perhaps you will laugh. Perhaps you will be inspired. On occasion you may even be saddened. I post these thoughts just to keep the thought of today's run fresh... If anything below inspires you, drop me a line and let me know. comments@courseperformance.com

The weather didn't look so good today, so I stayed inside and ran on the treadmill. Although I really do hate running on the treadmill, Course Performance has offered me some motivation. I have been running the Course Performance Efficiency Test on myself for some time. It just occured to me that I should start posting my results as a method of tracking my training. I also have a few volunteers doing some research for me. I am going to start a log showing all of our progress. Look for that over the next few days...

Geez. Another 50+ degree day here in the NorthEast. I could really get used to this. Another 6 mile run today at lunch. Just trying to keep my weekly mileage respectable. My goal is to put in 21 on Saturday, although the weather is supposed to turn markedly colder by then.

What a day! The weather here in the NorthEast was beautiful. It was almost 50 degrees and sunny at lunch time, when I went for my run. I got better sleep last night, and felt better too. All of which probablt contributed to my 36:20 6 mile run. While this is still far away from my fastest (34:55), it is still faster than I have run this loop in months. Today has provided some much needed motivation to get me through this Boston!

Today was not a good day for me. It started with about 2-1/2 hours of sleep last night. Then I really did not feel well all day. I decided to try to run anyway. Sometimes I try to get smarter than I really am. Today was one of those days. I thought... if I run my normal loop, and make sure I don't turn around before I get half way, then I will have no choice, but to run back, and get a full run in... Well I walked the second half. That is how bad I felt. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Well my training for Boston has officially begun. I have built up, and now I am in the tuning phase. I am going to try to keep this log more up to date with my training details, if only as a record for myself.

Today was an interesting morning. I was hoping to get a 15 mile run in today. I knew I would have to do it early if I was going to. I also knew it was going to be too cold, dark, and snowy to run outside. I decided that I would get up early, and run on the treadmill at my gym. When I started getting dressed, I realized I had forgotten my socks. Being the dedicated (read obsessed) runner that I am, I decided, I would just run without socks. You see, I play hockey, and skating with no socks is not unheard of, so I figured... Well it took until about mile 5 until I realized there was no way. I finished 6 miles, licked my wounds, and headed to work. The moral of this story is DON'T RUN WITHOUT SOCKS!
