Below you can read my days thoughts on running. Some days I will write about my day on the road. Some days I will write about thoughts on training, racing, efficiency, marathons, or whatever crosses my mind while I am on the road. Perhaps you will laugh. Perhaps you will be inspired. On occasion you may even be saddened. I post these thoughts just to keep the thought of today's run fresh... If anything below inspires you, drop me a line and let me know. comments@courseperformance.com

Well today started out bitter, but ended up sweet. Work got crazy so I just could not get out to run at lunch. Luckily I had some time this evening, and I got an efficiency test in. I was playing with my stride to see if it would make a difference. I focused on using my calves to push off on every stride. I also focused on landing mid foot instead of on my heel. The results were quite enlightening. I was almost 10% better on my stride measurement. I stayed pretty constant on my aerobic measure. I am not sure exactly why the calf mid foot stride helps so much, but I will take it.

Happy Thanksgiving. I ate well. I did not get the opportunity to run in a race this turkey day. There is a big one in Connecticut that I have thought about for many years. Maybe next year life will work out... The weather here was miserable, so I used that as my excuse. It didn't make me feel any better, but I tried. I did get out for a longer run on Wednesday before. Work had been crazy the week or so before, and I had skipped several runs, so on Wed., things had settled down, and I snuck out for 12 miles. I took Thursday off to eat. I did get our for a short 6 miles on Friday to try to work off some of that turkey and pie. I took the weekend off, and got back for some 800m intervals today. I will probably get an efficiency test in tomorrow night. Happy Running!

As soon as I say that I think I will have more time to dedicate to this, work takes a turn for the worse. I have been absolutely swamped for the last week. I only got 24 miles in last week and 12 of those had to be on the treadmill at night. I ran a Course Performance Efficiency Test one night, I did some speed work another. Then yesterday, again I did not get the chance to run, so I did a hill workout on the treadmill last night. Finally work settled down today, so I was able to get outside today for a nice run. It was a little chilly, but I felt okay... I am going to try to get out for 12 miles at lunch. Enough for today...

It seems that I may have a little more time to dedicate to keeping this up, so here it goes. Today was a mediocre run. I got out for 6 miles today at lunch in 40:30. It was pretty warm for November in New England, but it was also awfully humid. I really did not feel that well today, and I have not been getting a lot of sleep so that may explain the mediocrity of the day. I am hoping to get in some 800m intervals tomorrow. We will have to see how work goes, and how I feel. That is all for now. Cheers!

I have been rather delinquent in writing to this log. I have been very busy trying to add capability to this web site. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be adding a beta test version of my efficiency tracking and marathon planning software. This trial version will be available for a few months. It will not be full functionality in that users will be required to use a Polar Heart Rate Monitor with data downloadable capability. The HRM files will need to be converted to test prior to be uploaded to the site. After these minor inconveniences a world of intelligence will be unleashed. Please keep checking for this great opportunity!
